So the streets of Orlando shut down for a stormy Tuesday. Living in Florida my entire life I can see why so many take these storms for granted. Each station had their non-stop coverage of T.S. Fay blah blah blah and for what? My heart does go out to those at Barefoot Bay who lost their homes from the tornadoes prodcuced from the storm, but seriously folks did we really need to bump the soaps and daytime talk/game shows? Usually when a tornado hits they break in with a weather warning and move on. Not the case today. My lady is pissed that she missed a days work withOUT pay due to the Fay. I am all for being safe than sorry but with all the sophisticated weather radars and dopplers you have to admit that Fay wasted our day today. No business was conducted including in our own Clear Channel castle which closed it's doors at noon so that we could be with our families or hurricane parties. So now what do we do? We have supplies, our patio furniture and plants are locked down. Now, we continue to watch this bitch named Fay and see if she decides to turn into a hurricane and whack us later in the week. Oh the joy! If she decides to come back and smack us I hope these dopplers get it right the 2nd time around because damn the news directors that will bump the Price Is Right for a windy rain shower.
Finally, I get a moment to leave some thoughts this week. Usually on a Friday at this time Dawn and I are getting ready for our weekend plans, but not the case at all tonite. She's passed out on the futon while I write this listening to the news in the background. The beginning of the week started with meeting White Rose Entertainment to update our music selections for the wedding. We wanted to catch up with our wedding planner Susan Southerland and did so at BBJ Linen. Wednesday evening I taughtt class at CSB. If you noticed my status as "Tired" From the Longest Day Ever is because Thursday XL 106.7 hosted Snack-time for the entire company @ 4p. I was given the task of making it happen and sure enough Firehouse Subs stepped up to feed the cluster while Shawnjaya & Scuba Steve transformed the 3rd floor conference room into an Olympic Village. We celebrated the USA in the summer games with decorations and projected the Olympic broadcast on the BIG screen TV's. Today we attended the Charity Challenge luncheon at the Citrus Bowl where we were presented with a check for Baby DJ. Are you starting to see the pattern of fatigue?
Tomorrow we are going to pull off our School Supply Drive at 3 locations to make it easier on you. Jayde will be at the David Maus VW dealership in south Orlando, Brian will be at the David Maus Toyota location in Sanford, and Johnny and myself will be at the Super Walmart on E. Colonial Drive from 10-2p. Come by to support your community then later that night you can play hard with us downtown @ Antigua! Thanks for your continued comments, questions, concerns, and actually reading my blogs. I'm going back to my nap now..Zzzzzzzzz
My best weekends in the world are the ones where there is nothing planned. The ones where we come and go as we please and that is exactly what Dawn and I did. Friday evening arrived home just as the sky was falling with the thunder storms. I wanted to get some training at my side gig the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour but to the inclement weather kept me indoors. Saturday we got an early start by hitting the gym and running errands around town including picking up our wedding Invitations from Write and Style! They finally arrived and you'll be able to see Dawn's reaction once I post the video-blog in a few weeks. That night met up with Brian and Rudy Washington at Taste of the Nations at the Convention Center. Good Times and Good Eats! Now Sunday was the ultimate best when you start out your day with a theraputic massage. I had knots worked out of my back and neck that I never knew I had. So this week and I am ready to conquer another crazy ass work week and collect boxes upon boxes of school supplies for J&J's Drive!
So I hear you've missed us with all the Best Of Shows we've been doing lately. The reason for Tuesday's Best of is not that we wanted to take the day off. All day long we dissected the show and all of our features. What works, what doesn't etc. So in the next few weeks expect some killer stuff coming out of your speakers as I can promise you you won't hear another Best of Show until we set sail on our cruise Sept 18.
