It's funny how whenever you say something out loud (or write it down) whatever was bothering you suddenly changes. Last week I had a few days that just seemed to be "one of those" days. Well, right after I blogged about it, things immediately started looking up. Not that anything special happened, I guess you could say that my outlook changed. Maybe by getting my "blahs" off my chest and seeing it in print, it reminded me just how blessed I am. I mean, just from this time last year to now - things really have been pretty amazing in my life. I have had some really tough times over the past year, but with the help and support of my family and friends, I have not only gotten through everything, but come out on top of it all!! I know I have no reason to complain. Things could always be even better, but they could easily be much, much worse - and they have been in the past. Fortunately - all of that is in the past. On to bigger and better things!!!

Am I in a Rut? How Do I Get Out?
Today seems to be one of those days. Actually, it seems to be of those weeks... I guess everyone has those times when you just seem to go through the motions of handling your daily obligations. No excitement, not a whole lot of emotion (except possibly irritation!), nothing much to write home about... I know every day can't be spectacular, but it would be nice to maybe have something unexpectedly pleasant or exciting happen. I guess this must be what it feels like to be in a proverbial rut. Nothing bad is really going on, no real complaints, but nothing special either. I know it could be worse, but maybe it is time for some sort of change. Maybe I just need a vacation... Any ideas? I'm open to suggestions...
Monday!!!
Well - It's Monday ! After a long, busy weekend - finally some peace and quite at work. The cookouts started on Thursday after work, before Red, Hot & Boom. We ate & drank & hung out until it was time to go see the fireworks. The display this year was AWESOME! Next year I think we'll get a room at the Embassy Suites so we can get into the mix a bit more and not have to worry about traffic when it's all over. The kids loved the fireworks, but they were wiped out by the time it was all said and done. On Saturday we went to my parents house and hung out and grilled turkey burgers. It was cool - very relaxed, no stress. When we left mom and dad's it was close to 9pm, but we got to Sanford just in time to catch the fireworks at Ft. Mellon. We found a great spot just as they were starting and we never even had to get out of the car! The display was good, but I think RH&B was better! ;-) On Saturday we went to the family cookout at my cousin Cliff's house way out east near the airport. It was our first time over there, but once we got there, we had a really good time. Some of his frat brothers were there as well as the in-laws and some of his wife's sorors. It was a really good mix of people and everyone seemed to blend very well. We cut out of there after a couple of hours since I was a little tired - not to mention the kids were just about delirious!
All in all we had a blast - it was great spending time with family and good friends! That's what it's all about - making memories...
