The girls are sleeping... that is, until I wake them up with my loud typing. 

Day 1 of Disney Vacation:  fini! (that's french for finished).

Something like 10 years ago, after my Freshman year in college, I was virtually fluent in French.  Now, not so much.  

As a point of information, this is somewhat of a "final" vacation for my wife and I with our daughter -- turning three in July.  In June, we're expecting our second child.  So, full-time attention to Baby G is nearing it's end.  Sad, but exciting too.  So, we're enjoying our first Disney vacation since we arrived in Orlando to live last April. 

Back to the matter at hand.  We spent the afternoon at Epcot after being lazy this morning and not leaving the house until like Noon. 

I was returning to the scene of the crime.  You see, in 10th grade, I traveled to Orlando from Tennessee on a band trip (geek alert.)  My goal at the time was simple:  come to Epcot, go to France, talk to some real live French people.   I arrived and said "bonjour!"  Apparently, that's a sign to speak only in French to the cocky 15-year-old who thinks he can speak their language.  I froze... didn't remember a damn thing.  Bad.  I still have nightmares.

So today, I triumphantly returned.   We were there for over two hours and yet again, I didn't speak a word of French.  Oh, I could read the menu.  But, when it came to uttering the words to actually order some bread... they came out in English.  Every time the waitress would leave-- I was absolutely positive that NEXT TIME would be the time.  But, no.  Couldn't do it.  Frozen in time.  I was 15 again and France got the best of me!  Zut alors!

Day 2:  Magic Kingdom here we come.  My little girl is about to have the time of her life.  And, I can't wait to watch.

Ya know, when I created my WIRED account last week.... it definitively displayed "Michael, 29."  That felt reasonably good, but I admit I realized it would be shortlived. 

On Friday, it began displaying:  "Michael, 30."  How could this happen?  One day I was in my 20's... the next, O-L-D.  Funny, I don't feel much different.  I think I've always been old.  The years just happened to catch up with my state of mind.
