So now after 2 years of having one of the most hyper dogs ever imaginable, me and the dog park have become very close friends. West Orange is where we spend most of our time and Sasha is affectionately known as "Bucket Dog" because she prefers to sit her butt in the bucket of water instead of drink it.

Dr. Philips is nice but what idiot built a park with no shaded areas? Apopka rocks my socks as well annnnd Winter Park frankly scares the crap out of me...although I think she could take on an alligator if need be.

Out of all of the dog parks which do you think is the best?

Hi everyone. I have two dogs a chow/lab who is 6 yrs old and looks like a teddy bear. My other dog is a mix of, who knows, but I love her just the same. She is almost 14 and recently diagnosed with cancer, stage 3. She is doing alright but has a few lumps. I am spoiling her rotten and she is moody sometimes, but doing ok.

I go to the dog park in Winter Springs, but I hear they are all over the place. Dogs need alot of space to run and feel free.

Have you tried the West Orange dog park in Winter Garden? It's right next to the YMCA near the turnpike. Lots of shade and all the dogs and owners are really friendly.

I have been to most all the dog parks here in Central Florida.
Its true, Winter Park (Fleet People Park) is scary, especially during alligator mating season April thru June. Most people there are ignorant to the fact that all Florida waters are infested with alligators, whether you see them or not. Alligators are attracted to canine activity, because they think there gonna get an easy meal. Males are on the move during this time looking for a mate. Its a large park, 28 acres, with a nature walk. I don't recommend this park if your dog doesn't come when his/her name is called. There is a lot of running room, with pets and people. If you don't keep an eye on your little poochie, its easy for them to disappear. The plus it has a washing station.

I do not recommend Easy Colonial Park off Hwy 50, to many wanna be gangstas with, untrained pit owners ( I am not picking on the breed, I love pits, but I am talking about there owners who have no business owning a dog at all. Dogs are untrained and have no socialization.)Many friendly dogs have gotten attacked here.

Casselberry - Pawmosa Park is cute, its a smaller version of Sanford Dog Park, friendly, small, with wood chips down. Small and large dog areas, with time out. Shade and Benches.

Sanford, I like the tree that the dogs can climb on. Shade and Benches

Tuskawilla/434 -Windsor Park, tucked away at a dead end. This is where I take my pets. Its large fenced in with three different areas. Large dogs, small dogs and training. It also has time out cages, but I've never seen anyone actually use them. Limited shade, a couple benches. My dogs like to run in the grass and I can see them no matter where they are in the park.

I think our communities can do better in making these dog parks. More shade trees, but not to many to take up playing room, more benches. Wash stations and misters are good. A shallow pool, that was kept up would be nice. I'd like to see obstacle courses and something the dogs can play on/climb on.

Our pets need exercise and their minds stimulated, they need to be socialized how dogs are socialized naturally by mingling with each other. They also need us to be their leader, play with them, give them attention and give them a job to do, teach them and at least one or two days a week just let them be a dog at the park and get dirty. Come on people.
